Getting started

  1. In the app, open Home and click Turn on in theme editor. The theme editor opens with the Recently viewed history app embed switched on: click Save. It remembers the products each shopper views, in their own browser.
  2. Click Add to product page. The theme editor opens your product template with the Recently viewed block ready to add under the product. Click Save.
  3. Pro: add the same block to the cart page and home page (or any other page), and the Customers also viewed block to product pages.
  4. Open a few products on your store, then go back to a product page: the row shows what you viewed, newest first.

No theme code is changed. Removing the app removes the blocks and the embed with it.

What shoppers see

  • A row of the products they viewed, with image, title and price (the block can hide prices or leave out sold-out products), newest first.
  • More products than fit scroll sideways; arrow buttons appear when there are more. The row works with a keyboard and screen readers.
  • A “Clear history” button (you can switch it off in the block settings).
  • The product they're looking at is never in its own row. The row stays hidden for shoppers who haven't viewed anything yet.

Cookie consent

The app uses Shopify's Customer Privacy API, which your cookie banner (Shopify's or a compatible app) controls. When a shopper allows preferences, their history is kept in their browser between visits for the number of days you choose in Settings (default 30). When they don't, or haven't chosen yet, it's kept only until they close the tab. Pro reports (co-views and Insights counts) are sent only when analytics are allowed. In regions where Shopify doesn't require consent, both are allowed by default.

Customers also viewed (Pro)

  • When a shopper who allowed analytics views a product, their browser sends the IDs of up to four products they viewed in the last day. The app counts each pair of products; nothing about the shopper is sent or stored.
  • A few minutes after shoppers browse (and in an hourly check), the app writes each changed product's list (up to 12 products, strongest first) to a product metafield, “Customers also viewed (Mint Recently Viewed)”, which you can see read-only on the product in your admin. The block renders it with your theme, so it appears with the page.
  • Choose in Settings how many shoppers must have viewed two products together before they appear (default 2). Counts fade slowly (3% a day) so the lists follow what shoppers look at now. Deleted products are removed; draft and archived products are left out.
  • A product with no list yet shows no row (the theme editor shows a note instead).

Insights (Pro)

Insights count how often each row is shown and how often a product in it is opened, per page type, from shoppers who allowed analytics. So the numbers are lower than your real traffic; use them to compare pages and rows.

Plans

Free: the Recently viewed row on product pages, up to 6 products, with live prices, cookie-consent aware history and the “Clear history” button; a small "Powered by Mint Recently Viewed" line shows under the row. Pro ($4.99 / month, 7-day free trial): the row on any page (cart, home, collections…), Customers also viewed, up to 12 products per row, card styling (image shape, card style, columns, vendor), Insights, and no "Powered by" line.

Plans are managed on Shopify's plan page: in the app, open Plans → Choose a plan (or Manage plan). Moving to Free takes effect at the end of the billing cycle you paid for. Changing plans never deletes your settings or data.

Troubleshooting

  • The row doesn't appear: view at least one other product first (the current product is never shown). On Free, the row only shows on product pages. Check the app embed is on (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds).
  • The setup step isn't ticked: steps are ticked when the theme editor shows the embed or block. Open the theme editor once after saving.
  • A product is missing: deleted or unpublished products are dropped; sold-out products are left out when the block is set to do so.

Privacy

See our privacy policy and security policy. In short: shoppers' histories stay in their browsers, and the app stores no customer data.
